What breast implants cause cancer?

Breast implants themselves do not directly cause cancer. However, there have been concerns and reports about a rare type of cancer called Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) associated with certain types of breast implants.

BIA-ALCL is not breast cancer but rather a type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system. It typically presents as fluid build-up (seroma) and swelling around the breast implant. BIA-ALCL is thought to be associated with textured breast implants (rather
than smooth).
